-solve equations with variables on both sides algebraically
-separate the variables and constants on different sides by
adding to or subtracting them from both sides
-simplify by collecting like terms on each side
-isolate the variable by dividing or multiplying
-check if my answer is correct using the L.S. = R.S. Check

By Adding or Subtracting:
- Move all variable terms to one side of the equal sign
- Move all constant terms to the opposite side of the equal sign
- Collect like terms and solve for the specified variable
